My 1L Spring Semester Goals

As I'm in the midst of the first week of this semester, I thought now would be an appropriate time to figure out what my goals for this semester are.

First off, I want to attend more networking events. It's so important, and now that I have a handle on how to tackle my readings and how to manage my time, I'll be able to devote more time to my future career.

I've always been someone who really values her relationships with family and friends, and law school definitely can get in the way of those relationships. I want to make more time for calls home and more time talking to friends so I can keep those relationships healthy.

I wanted to keep ongoing lists for both rules and cases for each class last semester, but I never got around to doing that (even though it definitely would have been helpful for civ pro). This semester, I want to keep these lists for classes that require them, and I'm going to stick with it to help with my studying at the end of the semester.

I know for a fact that I could have gone to office hours more often last semester, so I want to make sure I'm utilizing my professors better this semester. My friends who went to office hours more often than I did found it very helpful, so I definitely want to take those opportunities to learn more.

At the beginning of last semester, I told myself that I was going to keep school and home separate by only studying on campus and not doing anything at home that was related to my classes. However, that quickly ended because sometimes I couldn't stand to sit in the library for another few hours, so I would carry my casebooks home and study at my desk in my bedroom. I want to keep things a bit more separate this semester for my own mental health.

xoxo,

Rachel
