What's in My Law School Locker?
TBH, renting a locker for the year is already the best $20 I've ever spent. Having a locker makes things so much easier throughout the day. I was afraid that I'd feel like I was back in high school (sometimes I do, but I wouldn't necessarily blame that on the lockers), but I'm in love with it and would recommend other law students get one, too.
Today, I thought I'd share what I always have in my locker to give you some inspiration for what you can keep in yours.
My casebooks and textbooks
This one kind of goes without saying that I have those in here. My current study method, however, is to finish all my readings for the next day's classes while still on campus, and then I leave my books in the law building overnight.
It's been a good method so far, but I'm sure that may change once the impending doom of finals start looming over me come November.
Makeup wipes
You never know when you're going to need to fix your makeup because you forgot you wore winged eyeliner and rubbed your eyes while studying.
In all honesty, though, I use these mainly when I'm about to head to the gym so I don't get all sweaty with my makeup on.
Dry shampoo
My hair gets greasy very easily, and I have a habit of running my fingers through my hair and playing with it throughout the day, which definitely doesn't help.
I'm sure this will become useful later on, too, when I have to spend an entire day running from classroom to classroom and then have some sort of networking event in the evening that I have to look presentable for.
Deodorant
Even if I didn't have a locker, I'd be carrying deodorant around in my backpack anyway. You never know when you're going to need it, so I'd rather have it somewhere I can easily get to during the day.
Coffee mug
My law school has free coffee pretty much everywhere--it's awesome! The only stipulation is that you have to bring your own coffee mug, which I am a-okay with. The less trash, the better, in my opinion. It's easy to keep the mug clean, too, which is definitely a plus.
Travel toothbrush and toothpaste
My reasoning for keeping this is similar to keeping dry shampoo in my locker. Sometimes you just need a refresher, especially after you eat a free everything bagel and know there have to be poppy seeds stuck in your teeth.
Extra pens, pencils, and highlighters
At the rate that I use these, I am always looking for a new one. On Tuesday, during a midterm, one of my pens even ran out while I was writing an answer, but at least I had a few extras that I had grabbed from my locker beforehand.
xoxo,
Rachel
