Let's Talk: Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning can mean a lot of things. You can clean out your closet, dust your room, open the windows, and get your home smelling like lemons and fresh flowers. But, you can also spring clean other aspects of your life: digitally, emotionally, physically, and more.

I think it's important to take a step back and look at your life from a bird's eye view; after all, it's easy to feel trapped when you're in the middle of everything. Take a moment to grab a notebook and a pen, and get ready to declutter!

Your Goals

Remember those resolutions you made way back in January? In the chaos of life, it's easy to let those fall to the back burner, and now's the time to look at those again. It's not a moment to hate on yourself for forgetting about them or not focusing on them for the past few months, but it's the time to reevaluate and see what your goals should become now. You can add new goals, get rid of ones that aren't relevant anymore, and modify your current goals to fit more into your lifestyle.

Your Relationships

Let's be honest: there are most likely people in your life that are draining you or bringing you down. It'll be hard, but it's good to think about your relationships with friends and significant others, especially if it's one that you've had doubts about before. Cutting people off can suck, but, in the end, it can really help you out.

Your Routines

It's easy to fall into routines that might not be the healthiest for you--and now's the time to take a look at those routines and shake them up. You can even add some new routines into your life; whether you want to change up the way you walk to work or what you normally buy for your morning coffee kick.

Your Home

When you hear the phrase "spring cleaning," you automatically think about cleaning out your house. Don't forget about doing this! Look through your closet, dust your window sills, and sweep away the winter blues in your home. If you're anything like me, you'll feel better emotionally once you've cleaned your living space.

Your Body

Like I mentioned above, now is the time to begin new routines, and one you should definitely pay attention to is your body and health. Whether you want to start meal prepping or working out for a certain number of days each week, getting in the habit of taking care of yourself is an important step in feeling fresh after spring cleaning.

Your Digital Life

I'm sure that everybody follows people who they aren't friends with anymore or who make them feel bad about themselves. What's the point in making yourself feel bad when you can just unfollow those people? Go through the list of who you follow on social media and get rid of those who don't serve any purpose for you. In addition, take the time to go through your photos and posts and get rid of anything that doesn't put you in a great light. You can always archive things if you don't want to lose photos, but making yourself look professional and like an adult is important, too.

xoxo,

Rachel
