My 2019 Resolutions
Happy (almost) 2019! I hope you're all as ready as I am for the new year as I am. Although I know that you can reinvent yourself at any time during the year--trust me, I have--there's just something symbolic about the start of the new year that gets me really excited.
I don't usually write out resolutions, knowing that I'd probably lose the paper I wrote the list on or something dumb like that. This year, however, I thought I'd both end 2018 and begin 2019 by creating my own list. Maybe my resolutions will change throughout the year as I do, and maybe I'll remove or add some along the way as well.
I hope that my resolutions can inspire you to either create your own for 2019 or stick in your mind and help you out during the year.
1. Stay aware and be more grateful
On days where I take the time to remove my headphones out and look up from my phone, I find that there are so many small things that I notice. Maybe it's the wind on my face or the sun warming my skin, or I see a cute dog; whatever it is, it's something that brightens my day.Another thing that makes me happy in a similar way to staying aware is being grateful. There are so many small things that we might not always notice that we're truly thankful for.
2. Practice self care more often
Whether this is for my mental, physical, or emotional health, self care needs to become more prevalent in my life. Right now, "self care" constitutes laying in the bath, putting on a face mask, and avoiding my problems instead of facing them head-on. As lovely as baths and face masks are (and, trust me, they'll still play a part in my new self care routine), there is a lot more I could be doing for myself.3. Stop retreating into myself
I find it easier to hide myself away at home than be in social situations. I'll tend to wait for people to ask me to spend time with them. It's always easier with my anxiety and society's (and my own) general fear of rejection to just stay in my own head. Right now, I think that this is the most important resolution I'm making for 2019.What are your resolutions for 2019?
xoxo,
Rachel
